Web Page Project
This project is in place of a final exam, and is worth 20% of the final grade.
Create a website on an interesting topic. You can choose anything from a favorite band, your favorite sport, a topic you researched for another class, how-to guide for a particular skill, especially if it is a little unusual . . . etc. The choice is yours, and you are limited only by the bounds of appropriate material for a university-level course. Stretch your imagination - the more interesting your webpage, the higher your overall score will be.
Do not do a general page on yourself
- for one it may be too much private information, two - it is
not stretching your imagination or efforts. You should have four pages, including one main page and three 'sub' pages. The pages should be clearly titled and easily navigable.
* The main page should remain within the bounds of a normal screen - ie, no scrolling to the right or down allowed on the first page. Must be named index.html.
* Navigation may be accomplished using buttons, menus, frames, or whatever you like. Navigation should be located in the same place on all pages, and all options available from all pages. Changing the color of the button, or otherwise indicating the 'current page' is highly encouraged.
* Every page should use graphics and color to add character to the website. Remember to use high-contrast and pleasant colors.
* Each of the sub-pages must contain external links of relevance to their respective topics.
* Text should be formatted nicely such that it appears nicely on the page. Therefore, different font styles or headline sizes should be used, with left align, right align, or center as appropriate.
* Include at least two javascripts or applets in the site. You may cut-and-paste the javascript code from any of the many javascript code sources on the Internet. Document (using comment lines) where the copied code begins and ends. Tell us in your index.html page in comments where your javascripts are, in case they are subtile.
Your html code must be pretty. We will look at your source code, and it must be indented as described in the Textbook, and have as few 'line wrap' as possible. Line wrap means lines longer than the standard 80 character spaces available in an un-expanded notepad window. Understandably, long html addresses for linked graphics can make this difficult, so there are exceptions. Your Javascript code does not follow this rule - do not try to format your javascript!
You must write the webpage yourself: No web-page generators, or saving a Word document in html form. Looking up html tutorial sites is fine, and actively encouraged. Document, in comment lines in your source code, all the tutorial or reference sites you utilized to help you create the webpage. No more than 20% of your project (not including the javascripts) can be copied from other websites - and as always any copied material must be properly cited.
