Story Behind the Movie:

"Young Billy Taggart is doing his chores in a sunny cornfield in the late afternoon. He sees something move out of the corner of his eye. He feels something - something wrong. Then, right in front of his father, the boy is snatched screaming into the sky. No one can help him.
The Creeper is back...

Meanwhile, returning home from a championship game, a group of varsity basketball players, cheerleaders, and coaches become stranded on the infamous East 9 Highway in Poho County - only it's the cunning Creeper who has actually crippled their bus. After the adults are killed one by one, the students are left alone, trapped on the bus and forced to defend themselves against a supernatural creature who has already decided who it wants to kill - and the kids soon know who among them are targeted.
As 23 horrifying days of flesh-eating come to an end, the Creeper has embarked on its final voracious feeding frenzy. As night falls, the terrified group of young athletes must fight their own fears and prejudices and come together in a seemingly hopeless struggle against a winged nightmare hellbent on stockpiling as many victims as it can on the ultimate night of its grizzly, ritual feast." - http://www.jeeperscreepers2.net

What I say:

I actually saw the first movie (Jeepers Creepers 1) recently, so I had some idea of what to expect from this movie. Compared to the first movie, this one had: More special effects, More action, and a better outcome. Unfortunately it strays very far from the idea of the first movie. One big difference is that the Creeper no longer attacks only when the song "Jeepers Creepers" is playing. Now it attacks whenever, and wherever.

The movie itself is fast paced, and not shy about gore or jump-in-your-seat sequences. For the first 45 mins or so every sequence is someone being, snatched, carried or otherwise attacked in surprise. Actually quite a bit of the attacks come when the victim is in the middle of a sentence. The aerobatics and flying sequences the Creeper performs are very nicely done.

The characters themselves are pretty hollow. The movie tries hard to emphasize the racism and prejudice between the white captain of the team and the black players, but in the end it just becomes more like filler talk than an integral part of the movie.  The "psychic" sequences involving a character from the first movie don't really add much to the plot of the movie either.

The ending was somewhat of a surprise though. By the last third of the movie, I started getting a little bored because by then it was clear that the characters had no way of escaping and the rest of the movie looked like it would be just like the first half. But the last 15 mins or so showed some hope, and the ending was a nice little transition to a possible second sequel.

Conclusion:
Though the plot and character development was sorely lacking, no one goes to this type of movie for looking for depth and volume in the characters. They go to see bad people die, a scary monster, and good people somehow triumph in the end, on that note, this movie delivers.

Not as good as the first one, but a friday-night scary movie rental.
