2. The Greek letter Chi () is the initial letter in the Greek name for Christ (). The fish has been used as a symbol for Jesus Christ at least since the second century, due to the coincidence of its Greek name () being an acronym for the Greek phrase translated as “Jesus Christ, God’s Son, Savior”.

3. The arrow through the surface of water is an obvious (I hope) symbol for baptism. You are invited to my baptism at 6:00 PM 2004 February 7 at Community Life Fellowship, (-: in case you forgot to read the inside. :-) Directions are on a separate sheet. In Christian baptism, the believer is put under water in a symbolic burial with Jesus Christ. This is a public declaration of belief in Jesus Christ, his deity, his righteous life, his death, his resurrection, and power to absolve sins. This is a declaration of repentance from sinful ways and of faith that Jesus forgives all our sins. The believer considers it better to die with Jesus than to live as a slave to sin. As Jesus rose from the grave, the believer returns from the water to celebrate a new life in Christ, free from slavery to sin.
