Lab Policies:
Attendance: |
Lab attendance is mandatory, unless otherwise stated, and attendance will be taken. One absence is allowed for illness, vacations, etc. |

Cheating: |
Individual assignments are to be completed individually, and group assignments may not be discussed between separate groups. All work must be original to you or your group (as appropriate), which means no copying out of books, off the Internet, or from other individuals without documenting such resources. If you are unable to complete an assignment except by using some code off the Internet, you are allowed to do so as long as you document the copied text in the code and separately in email to me that you have done so. Of course, you will not receive credit for the portion of the work that is not your own, but as they say: “Live for partial credit.” |
Regarding group work, it is imperative that all members contribute equally towards the end product. If there are any problems with this that cannot be resolved within the group, the matter can be brought to the TA or the Professor for further mediation. Please remember that a key component of being a professional is work distribution and group communication. You are not succeeding in this course if you are doing all the work on your own. Likewise, you are not succeeding if you are not doing any of the work. Strive for balance.

Grading: |
Lab is worth 5 - 10% of your grade. This grade will be a sum of attendance, lab participation, and pop quizzes. The pop quizzes will be on material recently covered in lecture, out of reading already assigned in class, or from lab discussions. |
Class Participation: |
At the beginning of each lab, I will be discussing or demonstrating material that you will need to be successful in this course. I will try to keep my lectures as short as possible, and you will try to pay attention to them. This means no coding, surfing, instant messaging, etc. Credit for attendance is contingent on compliance. |
Once you have completed the tasks for the lab, you are welcome to stay and work together on team projects, work on projects for other classes, or quietly use the Internet for fun, but please do not be disruptive to other students who are still working. If you have finished your work and would like to leave, you may. |
